Enable Images Upload and Comments for Return Items
Overview
AfterShip Returns allows merchants to enable the option to upload images of the return items and add comments. This helps merchants to verify the product's condition and review the process before approval. While selecting a reason for a return request, an comment and images can be uploaded on the branded returns page.
Enable image upload feature
- Go to Return policy > Return reasons in the AfterShip Returns admin.
- Scroll to the Reason library section.
- Click Edit next to an existing return reason.

- Under Detailed information:
- You will see two options: Enable comments and Enable images upload
- Check Enable images upload
- Select whether an image upload is Optional or Required
- Add brief instructions for shoppers (optional)
- Click Save.

You can also enable image upload while adding a new reason:
- Click Add reason to create a new reason.

- Input the name of the reason.
- Click Add sub-reason if needed.
- Scroll to Detailed information > select enable images upload.
- Make image upload optional or required.
- If needed, add instructions for shoppers.

The image icon will be visible alongside the return reason for which you have enabled the image upload option.

Enable comments
While editing or adding a return reason, you can also enable comments:
- Scroll to Detailed information > Select enable comments.
- Make comments optional or required.
- Add comment instructions for shoppers, if needed.
- Click Save.

Customer experience
Customers can upload images during the return request process if they choose a return reason for which image upload is enabled.
